4th International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 17 June 2018, at Parque dos Continuadores, in Maputo

The High Commission of India in Mozambique, in collaboration with Indian Cultural Association, organised the celebrations of 4^th International Day of Yoga on 17 June 2018, at Parque dos Continuadores, in Maputo. The event was attended by more than 500 people of different nationality with great enthusiasm. Some notable participants are the World Bank’s resident representative Mark Lundell, Ambassador of USA Mr. Dean Pittman, Ambassador of UK Ms. Joanna Kuenssberg, High Commissioner of Mauritius Mr. J. P. Jhumun, Ambassador of Finland Ms. Laura Torvinen and Ambassador of Zimbabwe Mr. Nicholas Mahuhuba Dube, National Director from Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Rudy and the officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. High Commissioner Shri Gaurav Shresth welcomed all guests and participants for about 3 hours long Yoga sessions were led by Indian Yoga Guru Shri Rahul Mishra. He said yoga can play a central role in mitigating few diseases to create a healthy mind and body. He encouraged Mozambicans and foreign nationals to practice Yoga to reduce the work pressure and health problems for happy and healthy life. A special event was the rendition of a shanti mantra also performed after the Common Yoga Protocol. The dignitaries practiced yoga along with other participants enthusiastically. The programme was properly arranged to spread awareness of yoga in all aspects, both for the inexperienced as well as the practitioners. The event received wide coverage in the Mozambican media.
