Study in Gujarat

A delegation of Ministry of Education, Government of Gujarat, led by Ms. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary, organized an education roadshow and exhibition titled 'Study in Gujarat' in Maputo on 24th February 2020 in Hotel VIP, Maputo. Representatives of 13 Universities of Gujarat also came from India to participate in the event. Ms. Eugenia Cossa, National Director of Higher Education from Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher, Technical & Professional Education was the Chief Guest of the event. They inaugurated the exhibition and take a tour of the exhibition counters of various government and private universities. They interacted with the representatives of the universities from India. The roadshow started with the welcome remarks of Mr. Vishal Harsh, Cd'A, High Commission of India, Maputo. He welcomed the delegation and spoke about the Indian cooperation with Mozambique in education sector through ITEC, ICCR scholarship and e-VBAB. Ms. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary addressed about the fostering growth of education sector in the state of Gujarat and the future prospective for Mozambican students in the universities. She spoke about the programme 'Study in Gujarat' under which prominent universities in Gujarat are offering scholarships to foreign students. She also mentioned about contribution of Gujarat in the economic growth of India and the opportunities of education in world class universities in Gujarat. Ms.Cossa warmly welcomed the delegation and thanked the Government of Gujarat for such noble initiative. She praised Indian education system and universities and mentioned that every year many students from Mozambique go to India particularly to the State of Gujarat in various streams under ICCR scholarship as well in private capacity and India has been doing a remendous job in capacity building. Twenty one representatives from 13 Gujarat Universities were part of the delegation and they gave presentations to the Mozambican students and dignitaries during the event. More than 600 students and 100 dignitaries enthusiastically participated in the roadshow and exhibition. The event was well covered by local media. Next day, the delegation visited selected Joaquim Chissano and Pedagogic Universities and Industrial and Commercial schools in Maputo and signed a letter of intents for the cooperation in education sector with a few institutes. The visit was concluded with interaction and dinner with Indian Community.
