Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sujata arrived at Maputo Port this morning (22 March). The primary objective of the visit is part of our solidarity with Mozambique and to enhance our maritime cooperation. During the next two days, the itinerary includes professional interactions such as onboard training & lectures and joint exercises. Also, the vessel will be opened for visits by school children and the public. Defence engagement and capacity building is an integral part of our warm and cordial ties and this visit will further consolidate this relationship.

The second edition of Mozambique- India-Tanzania Trilateral Naval Exercise is going to be held in Nacala in northern Mozambique from 24-26 March 2024. INS Sujata, INS Tir and Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi along Mozambique and Tanzanian Navy Ships will be participating. Officer trainees will be undergoing basic training onboard the three ships.

These ongoing activities underscore India’s outreach to foster friendly relations through maritime cooperation, aligning with the maritime vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, known as “SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region” with due emphasis on the Global South.
