Free Artificial Limb Fitment Camp in Maputo (24 June 2025)
H.E. Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest & Climate Change and H.E. Dr. Ussene Hilario Isse, Hon’ble Minister of Health of Mozambique inaugurated the Free Artificial Limb Fitment Camp in Maputo. The camp is fully funded by the Government of India and will provide free artificial limbs to 1200 beneficiaries in Mozambique.
Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS) also known as Jaipur Foot NGO is the world's largest organization for the rehabilitation of persons with lower limb disability. The Government of India in association with BMVSS had launched “India for Humanity” program to organize a series of Jaipur Foot Camps abroad. Under this program, the Government of India has funded and provided logistic support for holding camps in 23 countries benefiting over 17,000 persons with disability with free of cost artificial limbs. This has immensely helped in physical and socio-economic rehabilitation of the physically disabled persons in these countries to lead a normal life.
To commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Mozambique and India, Hon’ble MOS announced donation of medicines and equipment to Mozambique. Our solidarity, friendship and partnership have been steadfast and will continue to be in future.
High Commission of India in Maputo looks forwards to the successful execution of the fitment camp and the positive impact it will bring to the lives of the beneficiaries and their families in Mozambique.
