On the occasion of the 51st Independence Day of Mozambique, the Government of India gifted ambulances to the Government of Mozambique. The handover ceremony took place at the Club Militar in Maputo. Defence Advisor Col. Puneet Attri handed over the ambulances to H.E. Mr. Augusto Casimiro Mueio, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of National Defence.
Defence cooperation forms a vital component of India Mozambique bilateral relations, as the two countries lie within each other’s extended neighborhood and share the waters of the Indian Ocean, making them stakeholders in collective security and regional peace.
Col. Puneet Attri reiterated that India is committed to support capacity building of FADM, guided by Mozambique’s needs and priorities. Supply and donation of military equipment have been regular feature of India-Mzoambique defence cooperation in recent years. The last two years have witnessed donation of naval platforms, critical spares, etc. Many more such projects are in the pipeline.
Earlier (26 March 2026), High Commissioner Robert Shetkintong had handed over 2 ambulances to the Government of Mozambique as a good will gesture on the sidelines of Inda Mozambique Defence Industry Seminar in Maputo.
