India Mozambique Defence Industry Seminar at Maputo (26 March 2026)
The High Commission of India hosted India Mozambique Defence Industry Seminar on 26 March 2026, aimed at promoting defence cooperation, military supplies and industrial partnerships between the two countries. Representatives from various companies of India’s defence sector took part in the event and showcased their products to the attendees.
H.E. Mr. Augusto Casimiro Mueio, the Hon’ble Permanent Sceretary for National Defence was the Chief Guest. Colonel Puneet Attri, the Defence Adviser gave an overview of the bilateral defence cooperation. He reiterated that India is committed to support capacity building of FADM guided by the latter’s requirements and priorities. Defence cooperation forms a very vital component of India-Mozambique bilateral relations, as the two countries lie within each other’s extended neighbourhood and share the waters of Indian ocean, making them stakeholders in collective security and regional peace.
During the event, the High Commissioner donated ambulances to the Government of Mozambique as a good will gesture. The event coincides with the port-call of Indian Naval Ship Trikand at Maputo which has brought flood relief material for the people of Mozambique.
Earlier (9 March 2026), a Defence Export Promotion Interaction was held in Pemba. The event specifically focused on equipment related to counter terrorist operations, disaster relief operations and campus security. It was attended by representatives from multinational forces operating in Cabo Delgado, dignitaries from civil administration and key security agencies.
